I really enjoyed seeing this quilt. I love the textured look you have achieved in the background with the tucks in that wonderful fabric and the sympathetic quilting. The two places of more intricate FMQ (was it the Yucca mouth?) add a lovely subtle interest. They compliment the 3 gold strips, which in turn pick up the gold on the leaves. The design isn't too simple at all. It is very strong, with clean. bold lines and lots of more intimate interest when you get closer. Great quilt!
I'm also interested because I have also been experimenting with gold cloth and textured backgrounds - what a coincidence to find you are too at the same time! Best of luck with Blog Hop
Hilary FlorenceHilary Florencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03611511885397558659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5419215828725387589.post-84646791116881292852014-08-25T18:18:19.833-05:002014-08-25T18:18:19.833-05:00Thanks so much Amy! I kept thinking the design was too simple, but finally decided that the complex texture in the fabric would make more complicated design look too busy so I stuck with that, and I'm so glad you like it.Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12464425603323257233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5419215828725387589.post-5502640411367587272014-08-25T18:17:28.879-05:002014-08-25T18:17:28.879-05:00Thanks so much Jenny, I'm so glad you like it!...Thanks so much Jenny, I'm so glad you like it!Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12464425603323257233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5419215828725387589.post-40937107935798679652014-08-22T21:12:02.846-05:002014-08-22T21:12:02.846-05:00At first glance I keep thinking the symmetry makes...At first glance I keep thinking the symmetry makes a simple strong graphic design, but up close the texture is wonderful and complex.
