I Like #215

Welcome to another week of things to like!

The very very best thing to like this week is that my beloved Anna is here staying with me!  She's going to camp at the zoo while I'm at work and we've been having fun together in the evenings.  Lots of game playing together and eating of chocolate cake.  She is truly such a light in my life!  And later this summer I get Alex (her brother) which will be just as fun!

Other things to like this week include this delightful icebox cake.  I haven't made icebox cake before but I wanted to branch out. I've been making the same pies/cakes/cookies for 25 years and though delightful I wanted to try something new.  This grabbed me because of its creamy filling and Malted milkball/malted milk flavor.  Malt is a favorite flavor of mine.  The cake was super tasty-  it's alternating layers of homemade chocolate wafer cookies, chocolate malt cream filling, and crushed up whoppers.  It's lasted really well too-it firmed up nicely in the fridge.  It's actually a little too chocolatey for my taste- I think the next time I make it I'll use the chocolate wafer cookies (which are VERY chocolatey) but leave the cocoa out of the cream filling.  Anyway, this is definitely adding to my dessert list.  Here's where I found the recipe.

The pups!  Spooky and Blue wrestling on the armchair.

And Spooky desperately trying to "rescue" a piece of kibble under the dresser.

While I wait for my seed started flowers to keep growing, my annuals are doing great and my over-wintered geranium and begonia are too!  My geranium was so sad inside, it was down to one little leafy branch and it's recovered so great!

That's all for this week, Click over to LeeAnna's for more things to like!

  4. How wonderful to have such fun company. An excuse to do all sorts of things. That cake is definitely a keeper. I guess you could make it with bought cookies too? Your plants are doing so well. Mine outside now, have not adapted well to all the weird weather we've been having.
